Aesthetic dentistry - Dentists at Nordbahnhof
If a tooth is affected by caries, it must be removed as quickly as possible in order to preserve the tooth as completely as possible. The earlier caries is detected, the less tooth substance has to be sacrificed.
In the case of early-stage caries, it may sometimes be sufficient to treat the tooth with a gel or varnish containing fluoride in order to promote the re-deposition of minerals in the affected tooth.
This is one of the reasons why we recommend our patients to protect their teeth through regular preventative treatments .
Mineral cement – your health insurance benefit
Glass ionomer cement is also a mineral cement that was specially developed for dentistry.
The material is soft in its original state and becomes matt and light after hardening. Dental prostheses can be attached well thanks to glass ionomer cement, but they have a limited durability compared to other materials.
Composite fillings
They consist of about 80% ceramic or glass particles and 20% plastic. Therefore, they are called composites.
Unlike the fillings made of pure plastic that were often used in the past, these are much more stable and also protect the healthy tooth substance. The mixed composite mass is a plastic, moldable material.
The fillings also have a high edge density, which means that less new caries can develop. Composites can also be easily cleaned during professional dental cleanings.
Ceramic inlays
Ceramic inlays are made of pure glass or oxide ceramic and are therefore even more durable than composites with a plastic component.
The material is fired at a high temperature and then glued into the tooth in a solid form as an inlay or partial crown. These fillings are significantly more complex to produce and insert, but are of particularly high quality.
Compared to plastic fillings, ceramic inlays last significantly longer, up to fifteen years. They are also less aesthetically noticeable.
Finally, we would like to emphasize that at the dentists at Nordbahnhof we attach great importance to finding the best individual solution for each patient.
