Prevention (prophylaxis)

PREVENTION IS THE BEST MEDICINE

When it comes to your sustainable dental health, do your best with a good toothbrush – manual or electric – and floss. When it comes to dental care, even the best isn't good enough. Despite all the aids available to you at home, you will not be able to reach a third of your tooth surfaces without special tools. Debris remains in the mouth, which can also affect the appearance of your teeth as a result of smoking, coffee, wine or tea as tooth enamel discolouration. Last but not least, fine bacterial deposits in the spaces between your teeth can have unpleasant consequences such as tooth decay or periodontitis, i.e. inflammation of your gums.

We would be happy to provide you with professional teeth cleaning (PZR) twice a year.

Why do you need a PZR?

How does the PZR work?

Tartar and hard or soft bacterial deposits are immediately removed using the most modern methods, and the surfaces and spaces between your teeth are cleaned with our special dental instruments. Matched polishing pastes ensure a fresh, clean feeling in the mouth. New bacterial deposits, also known as plaque, are also reduced prophylactically. Fluoridation with the help of our special gel also hardens your tooth enamel, which also gives you optimal prevention against tooth decay.

Step 1: Teeth coloring, examination for plaque

First, our staff, who are experienced in prophylaxis, will take stock of your current oral hygiene. When your teeth are colored, areas affected by plaque are made visible. This has an important side effect for you: you can see for yourself where you should clean even better at home in the future. Our colleagues will be happy to provide you with advice.

Our staff will also use a detailed anamnesis to assess the potential risk of, for example, infection or damage to your dental implants.

Step 2: Cleaning and plaque removal

Both gums and teeth are gently and intensively removed from deposits. Hard plaque such as tartar, but also soft plaque is removed from between teeth and the edges of the gums. We use, among other things, interdental brushes, dental instruments, curettes and scrapers.

Even stubborn deposits can be tackled using airflow powder jet and ultrasound devices.

Step 3: Final rinse

After rinsing the teeth, they are dried with a jet of air.

Step 4: Polish and Seal

Your tooth enamel, your tooth surfaces and roots are roughly and finely polished with a prophylactic paste. With the help of our special varnish containing fluoride, your tooth enamel is sealed in the long term and thus strengthened. This makes your teeth less sensitive to acid, cold or heat. Sealing with highly concentrated fluoride also protects sensitive areas such as exposed tooth necks.

Why PZR especially for pregnant women?

It is particularly advisable for pregnant women to have regular prophylaxis carried out. The reason: If there is inflammation in the mouth, the blood transports it throughout the entire body. This can have serious consequences for mother and child and, in the worst case, even lead to a miscarriage.

How long does a PZR last?

Depending on the condition of your teeth and the findings, your professional teeth cleaning will take between 45 and 60 minutes.
