Aesthetics (fillings)

FREE YOUR TEETH FROM CARIES

Even when it comes to your fillings, only the best can be good enough - both in terms of aesthetics and the choice of material. We therefore use the most modern material that makes your fillings in the anterior and posterior areas particularly beautiful, pressure-resistant and stable.

Unfortunately, no one is ever truly immune to tooth decay-related cavities. In order to be able to close them, we use biocompatible filling material that we adapt to the color of your tooth enamel.

AT THE NORTH TRAIN STATION

If a tooth is affected by caries, it must be removed as quickly as possible in order to preserve the tooth as completely as possible. The earlier caries is detected, the less tooth structure has to be sacrificed. In the case of caries in the early stages, it can sometimes even be enough to treat the tooth with a gel or varnish including fluoride in order to promote the re-deposition of minerals in the affected tooth. This is one of the reasons why we recommend our patients to protect their teeth with regular preventive treatments.

What are dental fillings made of?

We differentiate between fillings made of mineral cement, composite fillings or ceramic inlays.

Mineral cement – your cash benefit

Glass ionomer cement is also a mineral cement that was specifically developed for dentistry. The material is soft in its original state and becomes matt and bright after hardening. Dentures can be attached well thanks to glass ionomer cement, but their durability is limited compared to other materials.

Ceramic tiles

Ceramic inlays are made of pure glass or oxide ceramic and are therefore even longer lasting than composites with plastic content. The material is fired at high temperatures and then glued into the tooth in solid form as an inlay or partial crown. Although these fillings are significantly more complex to manufacture and insert, they are of particularly high quality.

Compared to plastic fillings, ceramic inlays last significantly longer, up to fifteen years. They are also aesthetically less noticeable.

Composite fillings

They consist of around 80% ceramic or glass particles and 20% plastic. Therefore they are called composite (composition). Unlike fillings made of pure plastic, which were popular in the past, these are much more stable and also protect healthy tooth structure. The mixed composite mass is a plastic, malleable material. The fillings also have a high edge density, which is why new caries are less likely to develop here. Composites can also be easily cleaned during professional dental cleanings.
